An Enjoyment and A Pleasure

review by Justin Chen

By utilizing an old factory as an art museum, the Mass Moca museum located in North Adam, MA is demonstrating a new artistic experience. The museum is full of creative art that really require people to dig inside the art and having a mental conversation with the art and the artist. There are to piece of art that are interesting.
Until by Nick Cove is using a massive amount of space creating this piece of art. However, the art is creative. The viewer walk in from the door and it will see dozens of decorations. In the middle of the art, there is a cloud-like thing hanging over there. There are chandelier hanging under the clouds. There are four stairs at the four angles of the cloud. If you walk up there, there is a forest that a lot of animals on there. The animals inside are killing each other. However, it is really hard to spot them because there are a lot of plants surrounding by them. It is amazing to see this piece because there is a beautiful world down there, however if you going up into the clouds, there is another world that no one will imagine that it will exists up there. The artist possibly wants to tell us that there are a lot of things that waiting for us to discover it. However, people need to be brave enough to climb up there to discover new things. Also, he wants to tell the viewer the world that you live right now might be peaceful but it doesn’t mean everything is peaceful. There are a lot of place that out of your world is far away from peaceful.
The second piece of art called Are You Really My friend? By Tanja Hollander is another marvelous piece as well. She walked around the world for 5 years and asking people questions about their story and taking picture of them. Those pictures are sometime only one person in it sometimes are a couple and sometimes are a family. Those pictures might seem commonly, however the real art of this piece is not the pictures themselves. The real art of this piece is the process of making this. She walked around different place in the world and knowing different people. The artist was overcoming a lot of obstacles to accomplish this piece of art. The art of this piece is the braveness of the artist and the beauty of human and human communication. One place I really want to mention is the living room in the middle of the art. It is a really good place for people to chat and enjoy the beauty of the art. The artist wants to tell the viewer that she stepped out her comfort zone and meeting new people why not us? She is sort of having a conversation with the viewer.

The Mass Moca art museum is really fascinating! It is amazing to see a museum that built in the middle of nowhere but with such meaningful art.
