Tropical Hawaii in Classic France

Hawaii in France? Minstral is a very high-end restaurant in Boston. They are a French
restaurant that serves the most amazing food. They have classic dishes such as escargot. But,
they also have different types of food as well.
One item from the restaurant that was amazingly presented was the Warm Pineapple
Croustade with Coconut Ice Cream and Passion Fruit Syrup. A croustade is basically a torte
with dough on top with a more flakey crust. The pineapple croustade tastes like an apple pie at
first, then the pineapple flavor kicks in. The croustade is placed on a dish that has a thin layer of
passion fruit syrup. To top it off they add a scoop of coconut ice cream on the croustade. This
blend of tropical flavors makes it seem like Hawaii. The exotic flavors greatly differentiate from
the classic French dish. It’s like eating a piece of Hawaii in France.
This kind of dish lifts the spirit. It makes you feel warm inside. The only thing missing is
the beach. The idea to have such a tropical dish for a French restraint seems a bit strange.
However, Minstral seemed to make the idea work. The dessert will have you wanting more, even

if you’re full.
