The Fantastic Duo: Sweet and Spicy

         What is spicy, exotic, sweet, crunchy, and delicious? The answer to that would be the Chili Soft-Shell Crab from Montein in Boston. Montein is a Japanese and Thai mixed restaurant. It combines things like Japanese sushi with classic Thai dishes such as pad Thai.

            The dish I had was the Chili Soft Shell Crab. This comes with two fried crabs with a chili sauce on both along with a salad and white rice. The crab was, as expected, spicy. However, there was some sweetness to the dish as well.  The sauce from the crab was also amazing to eat with the rice. The rice showcased the sweetness of the sauce more than it did with the crab. The salad had a different dressing that was also a bit sweet. It was a very light dressing and was amazing. The crab and rice were very filling. Along with the crab I had a Thai iced tea. A Thai iced tea is just a blend of tea leaves called Thai tea with evaporated milk on the top. You stir the milk in with the tea and enjoy the amazing sweetness that this drink has to offer. This drink is very popular in Thai restaurants and complemented this dish nicely. The cold drink helped take away the spice from the crab and gave a refreshing sweetness.

            Have you ever thought about how full you are, but you want to keep eating because the food is just amazing? This was one of those times. The different flavors used for this dish balance each other out in an exceptional way. If everything else on the menu at Montein tastes like the Chili Soft-Shell crab, then this is definitely the place to be.
