Metamorphosis, reviewed by Sofia Riano Alonso-Olea

A light shining on Gregor´s body while descending doing a series of movements, marked the life of Gregor Samsa.¨Humans can´t live with creatures,¨ screams Grete Samsa refering to her own brother, Gregor. Is this true? Aren´t humans able to understand different situations, aren´t we smart enough to handle them? Have you ever felt rejected by others? Well, Gregor Samsa has.

Metamorphosis written by Franz Kafka and directed and adapted by David Farr and Gisli Örn Gardarsson, was performed in different theatres with a high number of witnesses. Gregor Samsa, a salesman who used to provide all the money to his family, wakes up transformed into a giant bug, not being recognized or understood by anyone, not even his family.  Although he was trying to help and express himself as clear as he could, no one could understand him. How can you forget so quickly about your brother, son, or friend? Convince yourself that the person who looks you in the eyes trying to explain something you something is impossible to be understood. Hitting, not feeding, not being able to look at him, disown, in disgust.

Even thought in some occasions it was repetive, lighting, actors, music, voices, stage, dialogue, physical expressions and many different details made possible Metamorphosis  to be done, making an extraordinary good job.
