Narnia....is that you? by Erin Gifford
Enjoy
the scent of an antique shop? Like small and large rooms, crowded with art from
every nook and cranny of the world, and then some? The Isabella Stewart Gardner
Museum is your exact match in that case. The museum feels as though you’re
walking around someone’s house, looking at his or her personal collection of
paintings arranged meticulously. However, the best part about this museum is
that it actually was, at one point, Isabella Gardener’s home. She actually did live in the spacious building, collecting
every piece of art inside alongside her husband, and arranging them in a way
that made sense to her.
The
layout of this museum is definitely unique from the bottom up. Every room is a
different color inside this building, from bright reds to deep blues. Each room
is either carefully crowded or very carefully spaced out. The thing about this
museum is that every exhibit inside has very intentional placement that makes
it not feel like a museum. Each painting was placed by Isabella Gardner with a specific
purpose. Every piece of art draws you in and brings you into another universe.
Everything feels so individual yet unified at the same time. Definitely a
museum that has extreme elements of personal and human design, and doesn’t feel
like you’re just walking through a fine arts museum. It’s more of an adventure
inside.
