The Institute
of Contemporary art, otherwise known at the ICA is filled with a variety of
art, both physical paintings and videos. The ICA is located on the seaport in Boston,
and is built out over the water. One piece that was incredibly interesting to
watch and take in was a piece called Shake
Rattle and Roll by Christian Marclay. This piece consists of 16 TV’s on
pedestals placed in an open circle, where videos are continuously being played
on the TV’s. The videos on the TV’s are images of hands with white gloves on,
touching and medaling with different objects such as opening and closing boxes,
and tapping and shaking various objects. Shake
Rattle and Roll is an eye catching piece due to the curiosity it brings
upon its audience. The space around the piece is in an isolated, dark room. Due
to the fact that the piece is located in a dark room away from the rest of the
museum, it creates an even more mysterious feel to the already puzzling piece.
