Christian Marclay’s Shake
Rattle and Roll was a wild 360 degree circle of televised scratching, shaking,
and rattling. Walking into the circle of televisions is a challenge to the
senses. On each screen are white gloved hands moving artifacts around to make
noise. There are hundreds of artifacts displayed, ranging from old music scores
to rusty dreidels. This piece was made in efforts to portray the satisfaction
of touching items in the museum, and it definitely executes that feeling very
well.
