Dr.
Melissa Doft, Plastic Surgeon 1, is a trance like image that caught the eye of
several onlookers at the ICA museum. It is a print composed of the same image
that is made from oil paint, urethane resin, epoxy fiberglass, wooden frame,
and acrylic paint. It is the flattened image of a person dressed in doctor garb
with a robe and a cap. This person’s hand is resting underneath their chin, and
each left arm reaches out to the next, connecting the entire piece together.
The persons face looks fatigued, which helps make the image more human and
relatable. The piece gave off a warm and intriguing vibe. There are faces but
you don’t know who they belong to so there is room for viewer’s imagination.
Dr. Melissa Doft’s art work is beautiful and expresses a unique look on a
doctors view.
