Case of Confusion by Sofia Riano Alonso-Olea

Case of Confusion by Sofia Riano Alonso-Olea

Telling two completely different stories on the same black stage, with the same actors could be something new, different and very succesful, if you could make the  audience understand your perspective instead of making it hard to follow.

Man in the Case, adapted and directed by Annie-B Parson & Paul Laza combines two stories: one about a relationship unfulfilled between an antisocial secretive old man, performed by the famous actor-dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov, and a young woman eager for life and enjoying every minute of her life. The second, is about a man´s love for a married woman with children.

Even though different lighting effects were created, sound design was implied, songs were sang, and attitudes from the characters were changed depending on the story, no one seemed to understand the story making it hard to follow and ending being even boring or stressful for the audience.

By the end of the story, no one really knew what had happened making the story Man in a Case  unsuccesful even though the actors did a great job trying to differentiate both.
